Some young punks
Friday nights spent walking the aisles of your local bottle-o trying to find something new can be quite fun. But, when you're in a rush, a hot vino tip from a friend can be quite handy.
Next time you're at a loose-end give the gear from Some Young Punks a go; fun labels, quirky names, great tasting wine.
We'd recommend 'The Squids Fist'. Its a Sangiovese Shiraz which in our humble opinion would compliment a good strong pasta with some pals.
But don't take our word for it, check out their website and have a look over their range of wine.

Gilles Street Market
We went to the first Gilles Street Market months ago and were pretty impressed with the selection of vintage, fresh and quality clearance clothes.
It was a pretty neat setup then, but a couple of weeks ago we returned for a second look and were blown away.
Not only were there almost double the stalls, but a massive new range of clothes, live DJ's and so much delicious food. The range of organic soup, yiros, vegetarian pastries, cakes and fair trade coffee was enough to be a mini-food market of its own. Perfect for keeping your energy levels up as you dig through the clothes.
Oh and look out for the hot little stall on the North West corner, a little birdy tells me its the pick of the bunch.

Radio National
When I was little my parents listened to a radio station that seemed to broadcast more static than music. This often angered me as I found such noise a terrible imposition on my calmness of mind. I’ve since discovered, however, that this interference was attributable to us having lived in the country and that the voices my parents strained so diligently to hear, regularly impart interesting news items and contemporary wisdom to the whole of Australia. Once detested, now revered: Radio National, how I’ve fallen for thee. Broadcasting to the widest cross-section of the Australian community, and programming accordingly, within a relatively short period of time I’ve come to acquire a deceptively comprehensive knowledge about all manner of things. Why just yesterday I took in Bush Telegraph, the Book Reading and my personal favourite, The Spirit of Things. The latter is hosted by Rachel Kohn, whose rather otherworldly voice intensifies the mystery of spiritual issues to which she refers. Memorable episodes include low downs on those kooky Moonie characters and modern day Shamans who take hallucinogens in order to discover great spiritual truths. Yesterday Rachel presented on the existentialist issues that become acute with the coming of old age, and relayed the names of services that assist people in realising the meaning of life. Wow.
The Spirit of Things is broadcast on Sunday nights at 6pm.
